Vidur Ka Tila, located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, is a site steeped in historical and mythological significance. This archaeological mound, rising approximately 50 to 60 feet, is traditionally believed to have been the residence of Vidura, the wise minister of the Kauravas from the Indian epic, the Mahabharata.
As the legend goes, Vidura, the half-brother of Dhritrashtra and Pandu was known for his intelligence and righteousness. The place is also known as Ulta Khera and has been rediscovered after many excavations. It truly offers an insight into Meerut’s rich cultural tapestry.
Vidur Ka Tila is located on the banks of river Burganga, the same place where Draupadi, another historic site is located. With a peaceful environment and stunning views, the site is pretty popular among tourists these days. One can also have a lovely picnic here.
