Any sports enthusiast in Meerut has played at least once at the Kailash Prakash Sports Stadium. Every day, around 800 players practice various sports in the stadium and it has been demanding a synthetic track for year. Now, work has started for the synthetic track at the Kailash Prakash Sports Stadium is all set for an upgrade!
At present, it is necessary for a stadium to have a synthetic track in order to conduct national and international competitions. Due to the absence of the track, Meerut players have to go outside for preparation. But now, work has started for this track. Few days ago, the officials of Uttar Pradesh Project Corporation Ltd. Measured the length for the synthetic track. The budget for the same was sanctioned by the government in January 2024.
Under this scheme, a 400 meter synthetic track will be built at the stadium. Apart from the track, tracks for events like shot put, long jump, discus throw, javelin throw etc., will also be built from synthetic material. The track will be made by cushioning a kind of rubber which is suitable for every season.
Not only will players have a synthetic track to practice on in their own city, it will also improve their performance. The track will help in increasing the number of medals in national and international games. It will also ensure that players do not get injured for lack of a synthetic track.
