Meerut is set for a big infrastructure upgrade, and one of the city’s most important upcoming projects, the Bijli Bamba Bypass, might soon take shape under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

During a recent review of Meerut’s development roadmap, the Chief Minister noted that the bypass should be developed just like Lucknow’s Green Corridor, which is known for its efficient execution and modern design.

What Does This Mean for Meerut?

A PPP model basically brings government planning and private-sector efficiency together. For Meerut, this could mean:

1. Faster project execution

2. Better road quality and long-term maintenance

The CM also emphasised that the project should include income-generating components, ensuring it remains financially sustainable in the long run.

The bypass is expected to play a key role in easing traffic around key junctions, improving connectivity within the city, and providing smoother access for daily commuters, transporters, and out-of-city travellers.

If executed under the PPP model, Meerut may soon see a state-of-the-art, future-ready bypass that not only improves travel but also adds to the city’s growing list of upgraded urban spaces.
