The 23rd Para National Championship was held in Chennai earlier this week and Meerut players made the city proud by winning big at the games. On Wednesday, the players won a total of 8 medals including 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.

While Fatima Khatoon from Meerut bagged a gold in javelin throw after discus throw, Ayush won a silver medal in discus throw after shotput. Riya got home a gold in shotput while Anuradha won a silver medal in 100 meter race. Another player Ritika won a silver medal in 100 meter race and Ravi and Anubhav have bagged bronze medals in 100 meter race.

The 23rd National Para Athletics Championship commenced on Monday, earlier this week at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, marking a historic first for the city. The competition ended on February 20th and was supported by the Tamil Nadu government and organized under the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin who also serves as the Sports Minister of the state.

The championship saw 1476 para-athletes coming together from across the country in a competition comprising 155 events under 30 teams. It also became the largest para athletics gathering in the country.

With the efforts of Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), led by Devendra Jhanjharia and Tamil Nadu Paralympic Sports Association (TNPSA), the 23rd Para National Championship has been an event to remember!
