On Monday, Meerut District Magistrate Dr. V.K. Singh planted a sapling in the camp office while inaugurating the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Van Mahotsav 2.0 in Meerut.
Post this, the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Van Mahotsav 2.0 rally was flagged off outside the Commissioner’s gate. With this, the commissioner appealed to the general public to join this movement and contribute to environmental protection by planting as many saplings in and around town as possible.
The rally was also joined by many organizations and people involved in environmental protection like NCC cadets, NGOs and social workers. School children also walked the rally with banners and posters in their hands to create awareness about environmental protection.
On this occasion, Divisional Director Social Forestry Division Vandana Phogat, CMO Dr. Ashok Kataria along with other concerned officials, Environment Club team also participated.
The Forest Department organised a program in the forest of Manoharpur Village where 1250 saplings were planned in seven hectares of land of the village society in Manohar Village in the presence of Minister of State Dinesh Khatik.
Several NGOs in Meerut Environment Club, Janhit Foundation, Angry Youth Foundation and Boond Foundation Trust have been doing a great job in preserving the environment and spreading awareness about the initiative in the city.
