You heard it right, just 40 minutes from Delhi to Meerut. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened a 13-kilometer section of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) that connects Delhi's New Ashok Nagar to Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh.
This new RRTS, a new transit project aimed at improving connection between the two cities, is being hailed as a game-changer for Delhi-Meerut connectivity.
The 55-kilometer RRTS corridor, which runs from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, is now completely operational thanks to the new segment. Trains are scheduled to run every 15 minutes, with passenger services starting at 5 pm at 11 stops along the route. A normal coach costs Rs 150, while a deluxe coach costs Rs 225.
This launch cuts the trip time by a third by connecting Delhi and Meerut directly. Now, it takes less than 40 minutes to get from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, making it a much quicker and more effective option.
With 16 Namo Bharat stations and 9 Meerut Metro stations, the 82-kilometer Namo Bharat line transforms regional transit for commuters by connecting Sarai Kale Khan in New Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut. This is also the first time Namo Bharat trains will operate in an underground section within Delhi.
