Boney Kapoor was born on November 11, 1955 as Achal Surinder Kapoor. Being the son of famous film producer Surinder Kapoor, he was introduced to the film life early on. Boney Kapoor journey in the film industry began in the 1970s under the mentorship of his father. His debut production, ‘Mr. India starring Sridevi and Anil Kapoor was a super-hot and remains so till date. This achievement showcased Boney's knack for blending commercial appeal with compelling storytelling.

In one of his interviews, Boney Kapoor said that partition forced his farther Surinder Kapoor to leave their home in Peshawar and move to Meerut where he was born. His father changed multiple jobs before he was sent to Prithvi Raj Kapoor, the great Bollywood actor. That is how the family got bit by the film bug.
