Some people do great things in their lives while others are born to do great things! Popular Indian actor and politician, Arun Govil falls in the latter category.
Arun Govil was born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. After completing his education, he moved to Mumbai in 1975 to join his brother’s business but soon realized that he would like to do something more enjoyable. This led him to acting. He made his debut in India cinema with the 1977 film, ‘Paheli’ and did a couple of films after that.
And then came the greatest role in his life. He was cast as Lord Rama in Ramanand Sagar’s TV series, ‘Ramayana’ in 1986 for which he won the Uptron Award in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category in 1988. The show became a cult. The show was recently aired again on television during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020 and even after more than 30 years, it received the same response.
Not just this, Arun Govil’s filmography also includes films like ‘Himmatwala,’ ‘Karm Yudh,’ ‘Baadal,’ ‘Govinda Govinda,’ ‘OMG 2,’ ‘Article 370’ and many more. He has also done multiple TV shows like ‘Vikram Aur Betaal,’ ‘Phoolwanti,’ ‘Pal Chhin,’ ‘Gayatri Mahima’ and ‘Jubilee’ among others.
