We bet you’ve seen Anubhav Singh Bassi pack punches in his stand-up comedy shows, either on reels or live. The guy is hilarious and there’s no doubt about it. Whether it is his comedy based on slice of life situations, his delivery style or just his candid persona, the audience loves him.
But do you know that Bassi, who is currently one of India’s most famous stand-up comedians hails from Meerut? Anubhav Singh Bassi was born in village Dhanura, a small town in Meerut district. After completing his schooling from Dewar Public School, he shifted to Lucknow to pursue law. He has also been a UPSC aspirant and entrepreneur in the past but finally, felt his most natural self on the stage.
His stand-up comedy career started after an open mic in 2017. Today, not only is he a successful comedian with YouTube videos having 200 million+ views but has also acted in a couple of movies like ‘Comedy Couple’ and the much talked about ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’ alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. He also has an Amazon Prime Special titled ‘Bas Kar Bassi.’
In his Ted Talk, the comedian mentioned that he left Meerut after schooling in pursuit of greater things in life but during the initial years, the plan he set for himself didn’t work for him, leading him into depression. But today, he has name, fame and a solid career and has surely made his city, Meerut proud!
