In a landmark moment for infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh, Narendra Modi inaugurated the much-awaited Ganga Expressway on April 29, 2026. Stretching across 594 kilometers, this mega project is now India’s longest access-controlled expressway, connecting western and eastern Uttar Pradesh like never before.
This expressway is more than just a road—it is being positioned as a lifeline for economic growth, logistics, and regional connectivity across the state.
Route & Connectivity:
The Ganga Expressway connects key regions of Uttar Pradesh, starting from Meerut in western UP to Prayagraj in eastern UP, passing through major districts like Hapur, Badaun, Hardoi, and Rae Bareli.
Future plans also include extension to Haridwar, further boosting religious and tourism connectivity.
One of the biggest advantages of the Ganga Expressway is massive time savings:
- Earlier travel time: 10–12 hours.
- Now reduced to: 6-7 hours.
Toll Structure:
Car toll: Private vehicles are anticipated to pay a toll of roughly Rs 2.55 per kilometre.
Total toll cost: Light motor vehicles, like private cars, may pay a toll of Rs 1,515 for a 594-kilometer trip on the Ganga Expressway.
Heavy vehicles: Buses, trucks, and commercial multi-axle vehicles are subject to higher rates.
The inauguration of the Ganga Expressway marks a historic milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s infrastructure journey. With faster travel, better connectivity, and strong economic potential, it is set to redefine how people and goods move across the state.
