Uttar Pradesh is all set for a major infrastructure milestone as PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 594-km-long Ganga Expressway on April 29, 2026. Stretching from Prayagraj to Meerut, this mega project is poised to transform travel, trade, and tourism across the state.

What is the Ganga Expressway?

The Ganga Expressway is one of India’s longest expressways, designed to create a high-speed corridor connecting eastern and western Uttar Pradesh.

One of the biggest advantages of the Ganga Expressway is the massive reduction in travel time:

Prayagraj to Meerut: From 10–12 hours to approximately 6–7 hours.

Stretching across 594 km, the expressway will pass through around 12 districts, linking major towns and rural belts alike.

Key Highlights:

- 6-lane expressway, expandable to 8 lanes

- Fully access-controlled for high-speed travel

- Designed speed: up to 120 km/h

- Multiple interchanges for seamless entry/exit

- Emergency airstrip for defense and disaster use

- Modern safety features including surveillance and patrol systems

The Ganga Expressway is a key step in positioning Uttar Pradesh as one of India’s best-connected states. It aligns with the state’s vision of becoming a $1 trillion economy, unlocking new opportunities for investment, trade, and infrastructure development.
