Ganga Expressway is a much-awaited project that will cut down the travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj to 6 hours. The project is nearing completion and has witnessed successful nighttime drills by the Indian Air Force (IAF). Drills were conducted by IAF officials where they landed fighter jets on the country’s first expressway airstrip in Shahjahanpur district.
In a new development, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced that they are using Swiss technology to ensure road quality and minimize the risk of accidents. This technology identifies uneven surfaces or rough patches immediately. According to Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), fixing these problems in a timely fashion saves both time and future repair costs and ensures a comfortable driving experience for the public.
Once the technology is successfully implemented at the Ganga Expressway, UPEIDA also plans to introduce in on the Gorakhpur Link expressway.
Regarding the new technology, an official statement said last week, “The use of Swiss technology will ensure that this expressway is also built with high quality and comfort standards, strengthening the Adityanath government’s vision of modern infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh.”
The Ganga Expressway was approved in September 2021. Although the project is running behind schedule, it is all set to be inaugurated in November this year and will significantly cut down travel time between East and West of Uttar Pradesh.
