In a major stride for regional transit, three new Namo Bharat stations—Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul, and Modipuram, located between Meerut South and Modipuram—are set to open by the end of July. This milestone brings the 82 km Delhi‑Ghaziabad‑Meerut RRTS corridor significantly closer to full commissioning.
The Three Stations:
- Shatabdi Nagar: An elevated station, 215 meters long and 17 meters high, designed to handle both Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro services. Civil and system works are already complete.
- Begumpul: Located in the heart of Meerut, this underground station is one of the largest in the corridor. Construction is nearly complete, with final installations underway.
- Modipuram: Situated near the National Highway, this elevated station will serve as the terminal point of the RRTS corridor. It includes dedicated pedestrian infrastructure like foot-over-bridges for smooth commuter movement.
The upcoming stations are part of a larger vision to integrate regional and intra-city transportation. The Meerut Metro, a 23-km-long local line with 13 stations, will also operate on the same tracks in the urban segment of the city. This dual-use model is expected to enhance last-mile connectivity and ease congestion on roads.
With the three stations on track for launch by the end of July, Meerut will be fully integrated into the Namo Bharat network. Once all 25 stations of the corridor become functional, it will mark the formal launch of India’s first fully operational RRTS.
