India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is set to change how commuters travel between Meerut and Delhi. The Meerut RRTS launch, powered by Namo Bharat semi-high-speed trains, is scheduled for 22 February 2026, marking a major milestone in the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor and boosting regional connectivity like never before.

The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is a cutting-edge transit initiative developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). The RRTS network is designed to deliver rapid, reliable, and comfortable travel across the National Capital Region, linking Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut with travel times of less than one hour — a game-changer for daily commuters, students, and professionals in the region.

What Is the Delhi–Meerut RRTS Corridor?

The Delhi–Meerut RRTS corridor is an 82 km semi-high-speed rapid transit line that spans:

- Delhi — connecting major transport hubs

- Ghaziabad — key intermediate stations

- Meerut — final terminus with multiple urban stops

This corridor is being developed with state-of-the-art infrastructure and trains capable of speeds up to 160 km/h, making travel between Meerut and Delhi significantly faster than current rail or road options.

Once operational, the Meerut RRTS service will significantly reduce traffic congestion on highways, offer a reliable alternative to buses and personal vehicles, and set standards for future RRTS corridors being planned across India. As the region prepares for the 22 February launch, local authorities and transportation planners are coordinating last-mile access, parking, and feeder bus services to ensure seamless commuter experience from Day 1.
