Meerut has once again proved why it is known as the sports equipment manufacturing capital of India. The city's globally renowned sports industry has achieved another major milestone as one-third of the officially approved athletics throwing equipment for the Commonwealth Games 2026 has been manufactured by companies based in Meerut.

The Commonwealth Games 2026 will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, bringing together athletes from across the Commonwealth. Alongside three athletes representing Meerut on the international stage, the city will also be represented through its world-class sports equipment used in competition.

Meerut Companies Earn Global Recognition

The official equipment list for the athletics throwing events—including shot put, discus throw, hammer throw, and javelin throw—features 42 approved equipment items. Impressively, 14 of these products are manufactured by Meerut-based companies, making up 33.33% of the total approved list.

The companies receiving official approval are:

  • Bhalla International (Vinex) – 12 approved equipment items

  • Nelco – 1 approved equipment item

  • Anand Track Equipment (ATE) – 1 approved equipment item

This marks a significant increase from the previous Commonwealth Games, where Meerut companies accounted for approximately 20% of the approved equipment list.

Industry experts and entrepreneurs believe this achievement reflects the city's growing expertise in manufacturing high-quality athletics equipment, backed by advanced engineering, strict quality control, and international certifications.

For decades, Meerut has supplied sports goods to national and international tournaments, schools, universities, professional leagues, and sports federations worldwide. The Commonwealth Games approval further highlights the city's ability to compete with leading global manufacturers.

The inclusion of Meerut-made equipment at the Commonwealth Games reinforces the city's position as a global hub for sports manufacturing. It also boosts the credibility of local manufacturers, opens new international business opportunities, and showcases the quality of Indian-made sports equipment on one of the world's biggest sporting stages.

For Meerut, this is more than just an industrial achievement—it's a celebration of the city's legacy, innovation, and growing influence in global sports.
