
Situated about 70 kilometres from India's capital, Meerut is one of the historic cities of Uttar Pradesh. 1. Hastinapur
This town is located on the Ganges River and is renowned for being the setting for the epic Mahabharata story. Given that three of the Jain Tirthankaras were born in Hastinapur, the city is revered greatly by the Jains. Upon the Pandavas' victory in the Mahabharata, they seized control of Hastinapur, and henceforth, the area is referred to as the Mahabharata town, maintaining the mythological essence.
2. St. John’s Church
St. John's Church, which can accommodate up to 3000 people, is not only one of the largest churches in the area but also one of the oldest in Meerut and northern India. The East India Company built and founded the church between 1819 and 1821.
3. Shapir
The mausoleum known as Shapir or Shahpeer Sahab ki Dargah was built in Meerut during the Mughal era by Noor Jahan. It was constructed in 1628 as a memorial to the local Muslim Hazrat Shahpeer, who is credited with serving as the queen's advisor in addition to being Emperor Jahangir's instructor.
4. Draupadi Ki Rasoi
This monument, which means "Draupadi's Kitchen" is located near Meerut on the banks of the Buriganga River. According to legend, Draupadi, the Pandavas' wife, prepared meals for the whole family in this location.
5. Augharnath Mandir
There is a great deal of history associated with this temple; in 1857, it was here that a group of freedom fighters plotted their rebellion. Considered a divine wonder, it is thought that a Shiv Ling self originated in this particular temple many years ago.
6. Ecological Park
Situated in close proximity to the renowned Augarnath temple, this location was constructed by the Indian army stationed at Meerut Cantt. This well-known park in Meerut provides tourists with a tranquil setting and was designed for leisurely and peaceful activities.
7. Mansa Devi Temple
This temple, one of the city's oldest, is situated close to the Medical College of Meerut. This Durga Mata-dedicated temple is crowded during Navratri because it is thought that if you make any wishes there with a pure heart, they would come true.
8. Gandhi Bagh
Gandhi Bagh, one of Meerut's oldest parks, was established by the East India Company. It's easily accessible from the city, situated along Mall Road, and is well-known for its nightly musical fountain performance.
