Meerut is set to witness a landmark moment in its urban and economic journey as Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the city on February 22 to inaugurate key mass transit projects — the Meerut Metro and the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail service. The launch is expected to significantly enhance connectivity while acting as a catalyst for economic growth across Meerut and the wider western Uttar Pradesh region.

A New Era of Connectivity for Western UP

The inauguration of the Namo Bharat service marks a major milestone in India’s semi-high-speed rail network. Designed for faster, safer, and more comfortable regional travel, the Namo Bharat train will drastically cut commute time between Meerut and the National Capital Region, making daily travel smoother for professionals, students, and business owners.

Alongside this, the Meerut Metro will offer residents a modern, eco-friendly urban transport system, easing traffic congestion and improving last-mile connectivity within the city.

Experts believe the metro and Namo Bharat services will also boost tourism, education, and healthcare access, positioning Meerut as a key growth hub in the region.

Preparations for PM Modi’s Visit To Meerut:

- A 36-acre venue in Mohiuddinpur is being prepared with high-tech German Hangar tents to accommodate approximately 100,000 people.

- Up to 10 helipads are being developed across Mohkampur and Mohiuddinpur to facilitate the arrival of the PM, Governor, and Chief Minister.

- A special track made of 1.5 lakh interlocking bricks has been laid for the PM's movement from the helipad to the main stage.
